• The Flash: the new DC superhero movie based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's murder, which brings unintended consequences. We get to see Sasha Calle as Supergirl in the film as well as several actors reprising their roles as BAtman inlcuding Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. The Flash had its world premiere at CinemaCon on April 25 before releasing in theatres on June 16. I went to see the film myself that day in theatres and really loved it. It’s fun, there are a lot of action and fight scenes and the way it was filmed, especially when Barry is running fast, is amazing. The visuals are really good and there are a few fun cameos as well, even from yet another Batman besides Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, but I won’t say who and spoil it. Just go watch it yourself in theatres. And stay until the very end, because there is a fun end credit scene with yet another cameo from someone in the DC world.

• Black Mirror season 6: the sixth season of the British anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. It’s back with five new episodes that are telling all different stories like we know from Black Mirror. The titles of the episodes are ‘Joan is awful’, ‘Loch Henry’, ‘Beyond the sea’, ‘Mazey Day’ and ‘Demon 79’. Starring in this sixth season are Annie Murphy, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, Himesh Patel, Rob Delaney, Ben Barnes, Myha'la Herrold, Daniel Portman, John Hannah, Monica Dolan, Aaron Paul, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Auden Thornton, Rory Culkin, Zazie Beetz, Clara Rugaard, Danny Ramirez, Anjana Vasan, Paapa Essiedu, Katherine Rose Morley, and David Shields. These five new episodes of the series were released on Netflix on June 15. I saw a few of them already, and they are really crazy. The first one, ‘Joan is Awful’, immediately puts you back into the world of Black Mirror and will mess with your mind once again. It's really well done and there are a few episodes that you will keep in mind.

• Elemental: a new computer-animated romantic drama film directed by Peter Sohn. The film stars the voices of Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O'Hara, Mason Wertheimer, Joe Pera, and Matt Yang King. Set in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic elements of nature, the story depicts the bond between a fire element Ember Lumen and a water element Wade Ripple, who cannot touch each other but discover how much they have in common. It's a fun film to watch with the whole family. The film was the closing film at the Cannes Film Festival this year and was released in theatres on June 16.

• Extraction 2: the sequel action-thriller film of Extraction directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo, based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa who are reprising their roles, with Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, Idris Elba and Tinatin Dalakishvili joining the cast. After being presumed dead 9 months ago, Tyler Rake is assigned back by the black-ops mercenary to rescue a ruthless Georgian gangster's family from the prison where they are being held. Just like in the first film, there is a one shotter with this one being even longer than in the first film. It is 21 minutes long and amazing to see. The film was released on Netflix on June 16. And during Tudum, the global fan event from Netflix, Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave announced there is a third Extraction film coming.

• The Blackening: a new comedy horror film directed by Tim Story and co-written by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins, who also stars in the film alongside Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Grace Byers, X Mayo, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji, Jay Pharoah and James Preston Rogers. Expanded from a 2018 short film by the improv comedy troupe 3Peat, the film follows an all-Black group of friends who encounter a killer while staying at a cabin in the woods. The film premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival and was second runner-up for the People's Choice Award for Midnight Madness. The film was released this Juneteenth weekend on June 16.

• Jagged Mind: a new horror thriller film directed by Kelley Kali. It tells the story of Billie, an art curator who is experiencing memory loss, blackouts, strange visions and intense nightmares. Since her mother suffered from a neurological disorder she assumed that is correlated. But the weird thing is that this all started when Billie started dating a mysterious new girlfriend. The film stars Maisie Richardson-Sellers in the lead role as Billie alongside Shannon Woodward, Rosaline Elbay, Kate Szekely, and Jimmy Jean-Louis. The film was released on Hulu on June 15.

• Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: the new computer-animated superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales / Spider-Man. It’s the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and  is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson in their feature directorial debuts. The film stars the voices of Shameik Moore as Miles, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham and Oscar Isaac. In the film, Miles goes on an adventure with Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman across the multiverse where he meets a new team of Spider-People, known as the Spider-Society, but comes into conflict with them over handling a new threat. I went to see the film in theatres already, which everyone should do, and loved it. The visuals are just amazing and the story keeps you wanting more. There are a lot of Easter Eggs which is always fun in a film. The soundtrack, made by Metro Boomin this time, is also great and the film is just a must watch. It’s one of the best films of the year and I can’t wait to see the next one which is coming next year. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in theatres on June 2. The sequel Sipder-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is releasing on March 29 of next year.

• Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: the new science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line and primarily influenced by the Beast Wars storyline. The film is the seventh installment in the Transformers film series and a standalone sequel to Bumblebee (2018). The film is directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez and Tobe Nwigwe in his film debut, as well the voice talents of Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Pete Davidson, Liza Koshy, Cristo Fernández, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Tongayi Chirisa, Colman Domingo, and previous voice actors, Peter Cullen, John DiMaggio and David Sobolov. The film introduces new factions of robots and a new threat to Earth. Set in Brooklyn in 1994, it follows ex-military electronics expert Noah Diaz. He struggles to find a job to support his family, and is convinced by a friend to steal a Porsche to sell, only to discover that the car is one of the Transformers cars. He gets in the middle of a war between the Autobots and Unicron and his Terrorcons. It’s a thrilling and action-packed film for fans of the franchise. The film was released in theatres on June 9.

• The Boogeyman: a new supernatural horror film directed by Rob Savage from a screenplay by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods and Mark Heyman, based on the 1973 short story of the same name by Stephen King. The film stars Madison Hu, Vivien Lyra Blair, Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian, Chris Messina, and Jaynie Verdin. Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, we follow a teenage girl and her little sister who find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it is too late. The Boogeyman was released in theatres on June 2.

• Past Lives: a new romantic drama film written and directed by Celine Song in her feature directorial debut. The film stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo and John Magaro, and follows a reunion between two childhood friends as they contemplate their relationship and their own lives. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 21 and was also screened at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 19, before releasing in theatres on June 2.

• Flamin’ Hot: a new biographical comedy-drama film directed by Eva Longoria and written by Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette. It is based on the memoir ‘A Boy, a Burrito and a Cookie: From Janitor to Executive’ by Richard Montañez, and inspired by the true story of Richard Montañez, the janitor who created the iconic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The film stars Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Tony Shalhoub. The film was released on Disney+ on June 9.

• Shooting Stars: a new biographical sports drama film about the high school sports career of LeBron James. Directed by Chris Robinson, and starring Mookie Cook in the lead role as LeBron James, it is based on LeBron James' 2009 memoir of the same name, co-authored by Buzz Bissinger. Also starring in the film are Caleb McLaughlin, Algee Smith, Dermot Mulroney, Wood Harris, Natalie Paul, Katlyn Nichol, Avery Wills, Scoot Henderson, Khalil Everage and Jett Howard. This film tells the inspiring origin story of a basketball superhero, revealing how LeBron James and his childhood friends become the number one high school team in America, launching James's breathtaking career as a four-time NBA Champion, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and the NBA's all-time leading scorer. The film was released on Peacock on June 2.

• The Idol: the new drama series created by Sam Levinson, Reza Fahim and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye who also stars in the series alongside Lily-Rose Depp. It focuses on Jocelyn, an aspiring pop idol and her complex relationship with a self-help guru and cult leader Tedros. Also starring in the series are Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Kim, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria. The series got a lot of critical claims, but I watched the first episode already and liked it. It’s special and different from other series, but it’s intriguing and I look forward to the rest of the episodes. The series premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival this May and premiered on HBO in the US on June 4 with a new episode releasing weekly and in Belgium you can watch a new episode a day later on Streamz.

• Never Have I Ever season 4: the fourth and last season of the comedy drama series created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher. It stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in the lead role of Devi who is starting her senior year in high school this season. Also back are Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, Ramona Young, and Lee Rodriguez. Michael Cimino is also starring in this season as a new love interest of Devi who was in a love triangle with Ben and Paxton. Our group of friends are in their senior year, and thinking about their future. We follow them and their high school problems one more time. This fourth and last season of the series was released on Netflix June 8.

• Human Resources season 2: the second and last season of the adult animated sitcom that serves as a spin-off and subseries to Big Mouth, centering around the workplace of the Hormone Monsters depicted in the series. Created by Kelly Galuska, Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett, it stars Aidy Bryant, Randall Park, Keke Palmer, David Thewlis, Maya Rudolph, and Nick Kroll. In this second season there are also several celebrities guest starring in the series including Miley Cyrus, Florence Pugh, Niecy Nash, Sam Richardson and Eugene Levy. This second and final season was released on Netflix on June 9.

• iCarly season 3: the third season of the comedy revival series based on the 2007 Nickelodeon TV series of the same name. The series stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress reprising their roles from the original series, alongside Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett. Josh Peck is also reprising his role as Paul, Carly’s manager who we saw in the second season, Jeremy Rowley is back as Lewbert and Mary Scheer is also back as Marissa Benson, Freddy’s mom who is reprising her role as well from the original show. In this third season we might get the couple we have been waiting for for a very long time: Carly and Freddie. And just like every other season, we follow our group of friends and their lives. Season 3 of iCarly premiered on Paramount+ on June 1 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• Cruel Summer season 2: the second season of the teen drama thriller anthology series created by Bert V. Royal. While the first season follows two teenage girls in the 1990s, this second season follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship between two girls in the early 2000s. Set in the fictional town of Chatham, Washington, it follows aspiring high school coder Megan Landry and her family who is hosting an exchange student named Isabelle LaRue for the 1999-2000 school year. By the time the year is over, they both end up in a situation when Megan's best friend Luke Chambers is found dead. Just like in the first season, the episodes switch from one moment to another, this time from summer 1999, winter 1999 and summer 2000. This second season stars Sadie Stanley, Lexi Underwood, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada, Paul Adelstein and Sean Blakemore. Season 2 of the series premiered on Freeform on June 5 with two new episodes and the rest releasing weekly.

• Based on a True Story: a new comedy thriller series created by Craig Rosenberg and starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina in the lead roles as realtor Ava Bartlett and former tennis star Nathan Bartlett. They struggle to stay afloat as an infamous serial killer terrorizes Los Angeles. They start a true crime podcast about it trying to find the killer. Also starring are Tom Bateman, Liana Liberato, Priscilla Quintana, Natalia Dyer and Li Jun Li. The series was released on Peacock on June 8.

• The Little Mermaid: the new musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay written by David Magee. It is a live-action adaptation of Disney's 1989 animated film of the same name, which itself is loosely based on the 1837 fairy tale of the same title by Hans Christian Andersen. The film stars Halle Bailey in the titular role as Ariel, along with Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy. It tells the well-known story of Ariel, the little mermaid, who wants to discover the world above water. The film was released in theatres on May 26.

• American Born Chinese: a new action comedy series based on the 2006 graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang. It stars Michelle Yeoh, Ben Wang, Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Daniel Wu and Ke Huy Quan, and follows Jin Wang, a high schooler struggling with his school and home life. He meets the new foreign exchange student at his school who's from Taiwan. However, a sequence of events lead him to become involved in a battle between gods of Chinese mythology. The series was released on Disney+ on May 24.

• Reality: a new drama film directed by Tina Satter from a screenplay by Tina Satter and James Paul Dallas, adapted from the FBI interrogation transcript of American intelligence whistleblower Reality Winner, which Tina Satter previously staged as the play ‘Is This A Room’. It stars Sydney Sweeney as Reality Winner, with Marchánt Davis and Josh Hamilton in supporting roles. Reality premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year and was released on HBO Max on May 29.

• FUBAR: an upcoming spy-adventure series created by Nick Santora starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first leading role in a scripted live-action television series. Also starring are Monica Barbaro, Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Barbara Eve Harris, Gabriel Luna, Fabiana Udenio and Travis Van Winkle. It follows Luke and his daughter Emma who have lied to each other for years, both of them not knowing the other is a CIA operative. Once they both learn the truth, they realize they don't actually know anything about each other. The series was released on Netflix on May 25.

• You Hurt My Feelings: a new comedy-drama film written, directed and produced by Nicole Holofcener. It stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tobias Menzies, Michaela Watkins, Arian Moayed and Jeannie Berlin. It follows Beth and Don who had a peaceful but co-dependent relationship that is getting affected by a betrayal. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year and was released in theatres on May 26.

• The Clearing: a new Australian eight-part psychological thriller series inspired by the dark and haunting story of a real-life cult with a female leader. It follows a woman who is forced to face the demons of her past in order to prevent a cult from kidnapping children. Directed by Jeffrey Walker and Gracie Otto, it is based on the best-selling book by J.P. Pomare. It stars Miranda Otto, Teresa Palmer and Guy Pearce. The series premiered on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally on May 24.

• Fast X: the tenth film in the Fast and Furious saga and the sequel to F9. The action film is directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Justin Lin, Zach Dean, and Dan Mazeau. It stars an ensemble cast including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno. We follow Dominic Toretto who must protect his crew and family from Cipher, who now joins forces with Dante, the son of drug kingpin Hernan Reyes, seeking revenge for his father's death during the events of Fast Five. Fast X was released in theatres on May 19.

• The Mother: a new action drama film directed by Niki Caro. The film stars Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick, and Gael García Bernal. It follows an ex-assassin who was fleeing from dangerous assailants, but comes out of hiding to protect the estranged daughter she left earlier in her life.The film was released on Netflix on May 12.

• Hypnotic: a new science fiction action thriller film co-written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Alice Braga, J. D. Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey, Jackie Earle Haley, and William Fichtner. It follows Daniel Rourke, a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists. The film was released in theatres May 12.

• Knights of the Zodiac: a new fantasy action film directed by Tomek Bagiński from a screenplay by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Kiel Murray. It’s based on the manga Saint Seiya by Masami Kurumada. The film stars Mackenyu, Famke Janssen, Madison Iseman, Diego Tinoco, Mark Dacascos, Nick Stahl, and Sean Bean. When a goddess of war reincarnates in the body of a young girl, street orphan Seiya discovers that he is destined to protect her and save the world. But only if he can face his own past and become a Knight of the Zodiac. The film was released in Japan on April 28, and was released in the United States and some other countries on May 12.

• White Men Can't Jump: a new sports comedy film directed by Charles "Calmatic" Kidd II and written by Kenya Barris and Doug Hall. It is a remake of the 1992 film of the same name. It stars Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow in the lead roles, alongside Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, Vince Staples, Myles Bullock, and Lance Reddick in one of his final film performances after his death in March 2023. White Men Can't Jump was released on Hulu on May 19.

• Robots: a new science fiction romantic comedy film written and directed by Anthony Hines and Casper Christensen. It’s based on ‘The Robot Who Looked Like Me’ by Robert Sheckley and stars Shailene Woodley and Jack Whitehall in the lead roles as Elaine and Charles. Set in an era where advanced robotics have enabled humanity to utilize lifelike androids as servants and manual laborers, affluent suburbanites Elaine and Charles use android doubles of themselves to avoid the time constraints of dating. But when the imposters realize that they are actually falling in love, they steal the identities of their owners and go on the run, forcing Elaine and Charles to team up and get their lives back. The film was released in theatres and on-demand on May 19.

• The Muppets Mayhem: the new comedy musical series based on the Muppet musical group, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta, and Jeff Yorkes. It stars Lilly Singh, Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry, Anders Holm and Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Peter Linz, Eric Jacobson, Matt Vogel, David Rudman, and Dave Goelz. It follows Junior A&R executive Nora who must deal with the madness caused by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, who come face-to-face with the modern musical business as they try to record their first-ever platinum album. The series was released on Disney+ on May 10.

• City On Fire: a new crime drama series created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, based on the novel of the same name by Garth Risk Hallberg. It stars Wyatt Oleff, Chase Sui Wonders, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, and Xavier Clyde. After Samantha Cicciaro was shot in Central Park, New York City on July 4, 2003, the investigation into her murder reveals the crucial connection between a series of mysterious city-wide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on May 12 with the first three episodes that were released and the rest of the episodes releasing weekly.

• The Great season 3: the third season of the historical and satirical comedy-drama series loosely based on the rise to power of Catherine the Great, Empress of All Russia. The series stars Elle Fanning as Empress Catherine II and Nicholas Hoult as Emperor Peter III. Also starring are Phoebe Fox, Sacha Dhawan, Belinda Bromilow, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Florence Keith-Roach. Season 3 of The Great was released on Hulu on May 12.

• XO, Kitty: a new romantic dramedy series created by Jenny Han and a spin-off of the To All the Boys film series. Anna Cathcart is reprising the title role of Kitty Covey, who believes she is extremely knowledgeable on love. She moves halfway across the world to Korea, aiming to reconnect with her long-distance boyfriend. She finds, however, that a relationship is much more complex when it is your own feelings of love at risk. The series was released on Netflix on May 18.

• High Desert: a new comedy series created and written by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford and Jennifer Hoppe-House. It stars Patricia Arquette, Matt Dillon, Rupert Friend, Weruche Opia, and Brad Garrett. The series follows Peggy, an addict, who decides to make a fresh start after the death of her beloved mother with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California. She makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on May 17 with the first three episodes.

• Fear The Walking Dead season 8: the eighth and final season of the post-apocalyptic horror drama series created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. It is a spin-off to The Walking Dead, which is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. It is also the second television series within The Walking Dead franchise. The first three seasons served as a prequel, focusing on a blended family who experience the start of the zombie apocalypse. Starting the fourth season the series runs concurrently to the original show, with Morgan Jones played by Lennie James from The Walking Dead crossing over into the series. Other starring in the series include Colman Domingo, Mercedes Mason, Rubén Blades, Danay García, Maggie Grace, Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman, Karen David, Austin Amelio, Mo Collins, and Christine Evangelista. Season 8 of Fear The Walking Dead premiered on AMC on May 14.

• Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: the third and last film of the trilogy based on the Marvel Comics superhero team Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), and the 32nd film in the MCU. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and stars an ensemble cast featuring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, Elizabeth Debicki, Maria Bakalova, and Sylvester Stallone. In the film, the Guardians embark on a mission to protect Rocket. We get tto see a young Rocket and how he became the Rocket we know and love. So we also kind of get an origin story of Rocket. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released in theatres on May 5. I went to see the film myself on Thursday in theatres and really loved it. It’s one of the best Marvel films ever and the best in the trilogy. I laughed, I cried and was really enjoying it. The music was amazing again and it was a beautiful ending to the trilogy. I really loved the origin story of Rocket and I hope we will see our Guardians again, together or not. If you can go see the film in theatres, you really should. And just like every Marvel film you have to stay until the very end with two post-credit scenes that you don’t want to miss.

• Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story: the new prequel spin-off limited series of Bridgerton written by Shonda Rhimes. The series focuses on young Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power. Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell are reprising their roles from Bridgerton with India Amarteifio, Arsema Thomas, Connie Jenkins-Greig playing the young versions of those roles. The series was released on Netflix on May 4 and consists of six episodes. If you’re a fan of Bridgerton, you will also love this series. I for sure do.

• Silo: a new science fiction series created and written by Graham Yost and directed by Morten Tyldum and based on the Silo series of novels by author Hugh Howey. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role, who also executive produces the series. Also starring in the series are Common, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and Iain Glen. Set in a toxic dystopian future where a community exists in a giant silo hundreds of stories deep underground, we follow the men and women who live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. But what is outside of the silo and is it liveable? The series premiered on Apple TV+ on May 5.

• Love Again: a new romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by James C. Strouse. It is an English-language remake of the 2016 German film SMS für Dich, itself based on a novel by Sofie Cramer. It stars Priyanka Chopra, Sam Heughan, Russell Tovey, Omid Djalili, Celia Imrie, and the one and only Celine Dion who stars as herself and made some new songs for the film. We follow Mira Ray, who is dealing with the loss of her fiancé and sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number, not realizing the number was reassigned to someone else’s new work phone. The two exchange several texts and start to get to know each other, even getting feelings for each other. The film was released in theatres on May 5.

• White House Plumbers: a new satirical political drama miniseries created and written by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck and directed by David Mandel. It’s based on the 2007 book Integrity by Egil Krogh and Matthew Krogh. The series stars Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Domhnall Gleeson, Kiernan Shipka, and Lena Headey. It follows Watergate masterminds and President Richard Nixon's political operatives E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, who are part of the ‘White House Plumbers’ that are charged with plugging press leaks by any means necessary, accidentally overturn the Presidency they were trying to protect.The series premiered on HBO on May 1.

• Bupkis: a new action comedy series developed by Judah Miller, Dave Sirus and Pete Davidson who also stars in the series alongside Edie Falco and Joe Pesci. The series is described as a heightened fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's life, and has been compared to Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm. The series premiered on Peacock on May 4.

• Beau is Afraid: a new surrealist comedy horror film written, directed, and produced by Ari Aster. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Beau, an incredibly neurotic man who must make a bizarre journey home to visit his mother. The film also features a supporting ensemble cast that includes Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Michael Gandolfini, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Richard Kind. Beau is Afraid was released in theatres on April 21.

• Evil Dead Rise: a new supernatural horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin. This is the fifth installment in the Evil Dead film series and stars Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher. The story follows two estranged sisters trying to survive and save their family from demonic creatures. The film was released in theatres on April 21.

• Ghosted: a new romantic comedy action-adventure film directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. The film stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in the lead roles as Cole and Sadie. The film was released on Apple TV+ on April 21.

• Peter Pan & Wendy: a new fantasy adventure film directed by David Lowery, who wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks. This is a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney's 1953 animated film Peter Pan, in turn based on the 1904 play Peter Pan or ‘the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up’ (also known as Peter and Wendy) by J. M. Barrie. The film stars Alexander Molony (in his film debut) and Ever Anderson in the title roles. Jude Law, Yara Shahidi, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan also star in the film. The film was released on Disney+ on April 28.

• Polite Society: a new action comedy film written and directed by Nida Manzoor in her feature film directorial debut and starring Ritu Arya and Priya Kansara in the lead roles. We follow Ria Khan who practises martial arts in order to become a stunt woman. When her sister drops out of art school and gets engaged, Ria decides she and her friends must pull off a wedding-heist. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 21 and was released in theatres on April 28.

• Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret: a new coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, based on the 1970 novel of the same name by Judy Blume. It stars Abby Ryder Fortson as the title character of Margaret Simon and Rachel McAdams as her mother Barbara. Also starring in the movie are Benny Safdie and Kathy Bates. We follow sixth-grader Margaret Simon and her family who move from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey. Since one of her parents is Christian while the other is Jewish, she goes on a quest to discover her religious identity. The movie was released in theatres on April 28.

• Dead Ringers: a new psychological thriller drama miniseries created, written, and executive produced by Alice Birch and based on the 1988 film of the same name by David Cronenberg. It stars Rachel Weisz as Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twin gynecologists who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes, including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront. Also starring are Michael Chernus, Poppy Liu and Britne Oldford. The series was released on Amazon Prime Video on April 21.

• Sweet Tooth season 2: the second season of the fantasy drama series developed by Jim Mickle and based on the comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire. It follows Gus, played by Christian Convery, a sheltered and naive 10-year-old half-human, half-deer boy who wants to find his mother. The second season follows up on the first one with Gus out there with other hybrid kids. He is still looking for his mother. Also starring in the series are Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, Naledi Murray, and Marlon Williams. Season 2 of Sweet Tooth was released on Netflix April 27.

• Love & Death: a new crime drama miniseries directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and written by David E. Kelley. The series is based on the true story of Wylie, Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who was accused of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore in 1980. It stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, Patrick Fugit, Lily Rabe, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Tom Pelphrey, Krysten Ritter and Beth Broderick. The series premiered on HBO Max on April 27.

• The Diplomat: a new political thriller series created by Debora Cahn. The series centers on Kate Wyler, the new United States ambassador to the United Kingdom, as she has to defuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London and adjust to her new place in the spotlight while also trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat Hal Wyler. It stars Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. The series was released on Netflix on April 20.

• Firefly Lane season 2 part 2: the second part of season 2 of Firefly Lane, the drama series created by Maggie Friedman and based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah. Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke are back for one last time as Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey, two best friends who went through a lot. This second part follows up to what happened in the first part of this second season with Kate who just got diagnosed with cancer and tries to get back to Tully who just left her place. The last seven episodes of the series were released on Netflix April 27.

• Citadel: a new science fiction action thriller series created by Josh Appelbaum and Bryan Oh. It stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead roles as Citadel agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh. It’s an action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional center. The independent global spy agency Citadel was destroyed and the memories of both agents have been wiped clean, so they don’t remember each other. Until they meet again for a mission which will hopefully recollect their past and will take them around the world. The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 28 with the two first episodes and the rest of the episodes releasing weekly. The series has already been renewed for a second season.

• Renfield: a new vampire horror comedy film directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley. It’s based on an original idea by Robert Kirkman featuring characters from Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula. Nicolas Hoult stars as the titular character, alongside Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Renflied was released in theatres on April 14.

• Single Drunk Female season 2: the second season of the comedy series created by Simone Finch. Sofia Black-D'Elia is back as Samantha Fink who is sober now after starting to go to AA meetings in the first season. She tries to stay sober and start a real life. It reveals the complexities of her sober journey, the community around her, and how funny it all can be. Also starring in the second season are Sasha Compère, Lily Mae Harrington, Garrick Bernard, Ally Sheedy, and Ian Gomez. This second season of the series premiered on Freeform on April 12, with all second season episodes released on Hulu on April 13.

• The Pope’s Exorcist: a new supernatural horror film directed by Julius Avery and starring Russell Crowe in the lead role as Father Gabriele Amorth. The film also stars Daniel Zovatto, Alex Essoe and Franco Nero. It’s based on Father Amorth's memoirs An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories. It follows Father Gabriele Amorth, the Pope's personal exorcist, who investigates a young boy's terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden. The film was released in theatres on April 14.

• Mafia Mamma: a new action comedy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke, from a screenplay by Michael J. Feldman and Debbie Jhoon, and based on an original story by Amanda Sthers. It stars Toni Collette as an American woman who travels to Italy following the death of her grandfather, who she finds out was a mafia Don. Monica Bellucci, Tim Daish, Giuseppe Zeno, Eduardo Scarpetta, Francesco Mastroianni, Alfonso Perugini, Giulio Corso and Sophia Nomvete also star in the film. It was released in theaters on April 14.

• The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5: the fifth and final season of the period comedy-drama series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Set in the late 1950s and early 1960s, it stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a New York housewife who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy and pursues a career in it. This new season continues to chronicle the journey of Miriam “Midge” Maisel as she works toward making her big break as a stand-up comedian in 1961. It also stars Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Marin Hinkle, Tony Shalhoub, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron, Luke Kirby, Reid Scott, Alfie Fuller, and Jason Ralph. The fifth season of the series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 14 with three new episodes and the rest of the episodes releasing weekly.

• Beautiful Disaster: a new romance drama film directed by Roger Kumble and starring Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner in the lead roles as Travis and Abby. Bad boy Travis is exactly what college freshman Abby needs and wants to avoid. He spends his nights fighting in underground boxing matches, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. But Abby wants nothing to do with Travis. Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his appeal, Travis offers her a simple bet: if he loses his next fight, he must remain sex-free for a month. If he wins, Abby must live in his apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that Abby's dark past is about to emerge, and he may have finally met his match. The film was released in limited theatres April 12.

• The Super Mario Bros. Movie: the new  computer-animated adventure film based on Nintendo's Mario video game franchise. It’s directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen. The film features an origin story for the brothers Mario and Luigi, Italian-American plumbers who are transported to an alternate world and become entangled in a battle between the Mushroom Kingdom, led by Princess Peach, and the Koopas, led by Bowser. The film was released in theatres April 5.

• Air: a new biographical sports drama film directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery from a screenplay written by Alex Convery.  It is based on true events about the origin of Air Jordan, a basketball shoeline, of which Sonny Vaccaro, a Nike employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie player Michael Jordan. The film stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck alongside Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis. Air was released in theatres on April 5.

• BEEF: a new comedy drama series created by Lee Sung Jin and starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in the lead roles. It follows the aftermath of a road rage incident between two strangers. Danny Cho, a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, goes head-to-head with Amy Lau, a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life. Also starring are are Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake. Beef was released on Netflix April 6.

• On a Wing and a Prayer: a new  biographical survival film directed by Sean McNamara and starring Dennis Quaid, Heather Graham, and Jesse Metcalfe. Set on Easter Sunday 2009, it follows Doug White, a 56-year-old pharmacist, his wife, and their two daughters who are aboard a private plane. While in the air the pilot dies suddenly of a heart attack. The father now must land the plane to save his family with the help of air traffic controllers and a flight instructor who manage to teach Doug how to fly the plane and land it. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on April 7.

• Chupa: a new fantasy adventure film directed by Jonás Cuarón, and starring Demián Bichir, Christian Slater, Evan Whitten, Ashley Ciarra, and Nickolas Verdugo. It follows teenager Alex who is visiting family in Mexico. There he discovers a chupacabra living in his grandfather’s shed. Alex and his cousins accompany the creature and try to keep it safe and alive from the men who want to catch it. The film was released on Netflix on April 7.

• Tiny Beautiful Things: a new comedy drama series based on the Cheryl Strayed book of the same name. It has been adapted by Liz Tigelaar and stars Kathryn Hahn as Clare and Sarah Pidgeon as younger Clare. We follow Clare, a writer who reluctantly becomes a popular advice columnist during a period of turmoil in her life. Quentin Plair, Tanzyn Crawford and Merritt Wever are also starring in the series. It was released on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally on April 7.

• John Wick Chapter 4: the fourth film in the franchise and the sequel to John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum from 2019. This neo-noir action thriller film is directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. It stars an ensemble cast including Keanu Reeves as the the title character, alongside Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Natalia Tena, Marko Zaror, and Ian McShane. In the film, John Wick uncovers a path to defeating the High Table, but before he can earn his freedom, he must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into new foes. The film was released in theatres on March 24.

• Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: the new fantasy adventure comedy film directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Gilio from a story by Chris McKay and Gilio. Based on the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, it is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and has no connections to the film trilogy released between 2000 and 2012. The film stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. It follows a group of thieves who travel to a realm to stop a great evil from enslaving the world. The film was released in theatres March 31.

• Murder Mystery 2: the sequel to Murder Mystery and a comedy mystery film directed by Jeremy Garelick and written by James Vanderbilt. It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston who are reprising their roles as Nick and Audrey. After solving their first murder mystery in the first film, they have quit their jobs as a cop and hairdresser, respectively, to become full-time private detectives, but are having difficulty getting their upstart agency on the map. When they are invited to the private island wedding of their friend the Maharajah, they are given the chance to prove themselves when he is unexpectedly kidnapped. Murder Mystery 2 was released on Netflix on March 31.

• A Good Person: a new drama film written, directed, and produced by Zach Braff. The film stars Florence Pugh, Molly Shannon, Chinaza Uche, Celeste O'Connor, and Morgan Freeman. We follow Allison, who years after being involved in a fatal accident that killed her sister-in-law, forms an unlikely relationship with her would-be father-in-law.The film was released in limited theatres on March 24 before a wide expansion on March 31.

• A Thousand and One: a new drama film, written and directed by A.V. Rockwell. It stars Teyana Taylor, Will Catlett, Josiah Cross, Aven Courtney and Aaron Kingsley Adetola. It follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez, who kidnaps six-year-old Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City. It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where it won the grand jury prize. The film was released in theatres on March 31.

Rye Lane: a new British romantic comedy-drama film directed by Raine Allen-Miller in her feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Nathan Bryon and Tom Melia. Set in the South London areas of Peckham and Brixton, the film is titled after the real-life Rye Lane. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year and was released in theatres in the United Kingdom on 17 March and was released digitally in the United States on Hulu on 31 March.

• Yellowjackets season 2: the second season of the thriller drama series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. It stars an ensemble cast led by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton as a group of teenagers involved in a plane crash in 1996, with Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell portraying their adult counterparts. After the first season, we still have a lot of questions and a few of them we will get an answer for. It will be another crazy season of the series. And this time it’s the middle of the winter, so it’s cold and snowing. How will the team survive the winter? The second season of Yellowjackets premiered on Showtime on March 26 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• The Power: a new science fiction drama series developed by Raelle Tucker, Naomi Alderman, and Sarah Quintrell, and based on Alderman's 2016 novel of the same name. It stars Toni Collette, Auliʻi Cravalho, John Leguizamo, Toheeb Jimoh, Ria Zmitrowicz, Halle Bush, Nico Hiraga, Heather Agyepong, Daniela Vega, and Eddie Marsan. It’s set in a world like ours, but the difference is that all teenage girls in the world suddenly, without warning, and mysteriously developed a special power that allows them to electrocute people. It's hereditary, it's inbuilt, and it can't be taken away from them. Coming alive to the thrill of pure power, the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the Power in older women. Soon enough nearly every woman in the world can do it. And then everything is different. The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 31 with the three first episodes, the rest of the episodes are releasing weekly.

• The Night Agent: a new action thriller series created by Shawn Ryan based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk. It stars Gabriel Basso in the lead role as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who is thrown into a vast conspiracy about a Russian mole at the highest levels of the United States government. To save the nation, Peter plunges into a desperate hunt for the traitor, while working with the terrorized ex-CEO Rose Larkin and protecting her from the people who murdered her aunt and uncle. Also starring in the series are Luciane Buchanan, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Sarah Desjardins, Eve Harlow, Phoenix Raei, Enrique Murciano, D.B. Woodside, and Hong Chau. The series was released on Netflix on March 23 and has been a big hit since its release. It has already been renewed for a second season.

• Succession season 4: the fourth season of the comedy drama series created by Jesse Armstrong. The series centers on the Roy family, the owners of Waystar RoyCo, a global media and entertainment conglomerate, who are fighting for control of the company amid uncertainty about the health of the family's patriarch, Logan Roy, played by Brian Cox. Als starring are Nicholas Braun, Kieran Culkin, Peter Friedman, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Sarah Snook, and Jeremy Strong. This fourth and final season of the series premiered on HBO on March 26 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• Up Here: a new musical romantic comedy series developed by Steven Levenson, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. It stars Mae Whitman, Carlos Valdes, Katie Finneran, John Hodgman, Andréa Burns and Sophia Hammons. We follow Linsday and Miguel who meet each other and both hear their inner voices in their head. Together they try to live with those voices in their head. The series was released on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in other countries on March 23.

• Tetris: a new biographical drama film directed by Jon S. Baird and written by Noah Pink. It stars Taron Egerton and Toby Jones in the lead roles as Henk Rogers and Robert Stein alongside Nikita Yefremov, Roger Allam, Anthony Boyle, Togo Igawa, Ken Yamamura, Ben Miles, Ayane Nagabuchi, Matthew Marsh, Rick Yune and Oleg Stefan. It tells the true story of the high-stakes legal battle to secure the intellectual property rights to the very popular video game Tetris. Tetris had its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival on March 15 and was released on Apple TV+ on March 31.

One bonus film as well: the new Belgian film Zeevonk. This drama debut film from Domien Huyghe stars Saar Rogiers in the lead role as teenage girl Lena. When her father dies at sea in a shipwreck, she is determined to prove that a huge, unknown creature is roaming the deep. Also starring in the film are Valentijn Dhaenens, Zouzou Ben Chikha, Lynn Van Royen and Hilde De Baerdemaeker. It’s an exciting but also emotional film that tells a beautiful story. Zeevonk was the opening film at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and was released in theatres in Belgium on March 29.

• Shadow & Bone season 2: the second season of the fantasy series developed by Eric Heisserer and based on two series of books in the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo, the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. This second season adapts Siege and Storm, and another original storyline featuring the Crows. The series follows Alina Starkov, an orphan and cartographer of the Ravka nation's First Army, as she discovers she is a Grisha, one with special gifts, and one long awaited to address a dire need in the universe. Starring in the series are Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Ben Barnes, and Zoë Wanamaker who are reprising their roles from the first season. They are joined by new cast members Lewis Tan, Patrick Gibson, Anna Leong Brophy, Jack Wolfe, Daisy Head, Danielle Galligan, and Calahan Skogman. In this second season Alina has to find the other pieces to get stronger and stop the Darkling and get rid of the Fold. The second season of the series was released on Netflix on March 16.

• Shazam: Fury of the Gods: the new DC superhero film based on the DC Comics character Shazam and the sequel to Shazam from 2019. It is directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, and stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren. In the film, a family of teenage heroes led by Billy Batson aka Shazam fight the Daughters of Atlas. The sequel of Shazam was released in theatres on March 17.

• Boston Strangler: a new historical crime drama film written and directed by Matt Ruskin. It’s based on the true story of the Boston Strangler, who in the 1960s killed 13 women in Boston, Massachusetts. The film stars Keira Knightley as Loretta McLaughlin, the reporter who broke the story. Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, Chris Cooper, David Dastmalchian, and Morgan Spector also star. The film was released on Hulu in the US and in other countries on Disney+ on March 17.

• Swarm: a new horror thriller series created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers. It stars Dominique Fishback, Chloe Bailey, Damson Idris, Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson, Rory Culkin, Kiersey Clemons, Billie Eilish and Byron Bowers. The series follows Dre, a young woman whose obsession with a pop star, very similar to Beyoncé, takes a dark turn. The series was released on Amazon Prime Video on March 17.

• Ted Lasso season 3: the third season of the sports comedy drama series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, based on a character Jason Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of England's Premier League. The show follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team with the secret intention that his inexperience will lead it to failure, but whose folksy, optimistic leadership proves unexpectedly successful. The third season of the successful series premiered on Apple TV+ on March 15.

• Extrapolations: a new anthology drama series created by Scott Z. Burns. It depicts the effects of climate change on the planet through various different points of view through interconnected stories. It stars an ensemble cast including Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Edward Norton, Diane Lane, Daveed Diggs, Tahar Rahim, Yara Shahidi, Matthew Rhys, Gemma Chan, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Eiza González, Murray Bartlett, Tobey Maguire and David Schwimmer. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on March 17.

• Superman & Lois season 3: the third season of the DC superhero series following Superman and Lois Lane and their family. It’s based on the DC Comics characters Superman and Lois Lane and created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch are back starring as the title characters Clark Kent / Superman, Earth's greatest superhero, and Lois Lane, a world-renowned journalist. Alex Garfin and Michael Bishop who replaced Jordan Elsass in the third season portray the couple's twin sons Jonathan and Jordan Kent. • Gotham Knights: the new DC superhero series developed by Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux. It centers on members of the Batman family and other DC Comics supporting characters. We follow Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Bruce Wayne, played by Oscar Morgan. In the wake of Bruce Wayne's death, Turner Hayes forges an unlikely alliance with runaways Harper and Cullen Row and criminal Duela when they are all accused of a murder they didn't commit by district attorney Harvey Dent. These kids work in an attempt to clear their names and find out who really killed Bruce Wayne which leads to them learning about the Court of Owls. Also starring in the series are Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Anna Lore, Rahart Adams, and Misha Collins. It premiered on The CW on March 14 with a new episode releasing weekly.
• Noise: a new Belgian and Dutch psychological thriller film directed by Steffen Geypens and starring Ward Kerremans, Sallie Harmsen and Johan Leysen. It follows successful influencer Matt who has just given birth to a son named Julius. When Matt moves his family near his demented father, he stumbles upon dark family secrets. He goes to investigate, but his wife Liv is very worried and does everything she can not to lose Matt. The film was released on Netflix on March 17.

• Scream VI: the sequel to Scream (2022) and the sixth installment in the Scream film series. It’s directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The film stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox, all reprising their roles from previous installments, alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving. Film series star Neve Campbell announced she would not be returning as Sidney Prescott because she felt the offer presented to her was unacceptable, making this the first film in the series not to feature the character. This is the third film of the series to be set outside the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, with the film's events taking place in New York City and following a new Ghostface who targets the surviving members of the "Woodsboro legacy attacks". The film combines the violence of the slasher genre with elements of black comedy and a "whodunit" mystery, and satirizes the trends of film franchises and subversion of audience expectations. The film was released in theatres on March 10.

• You season 4 Part 2: the second part of season 4 of the series. After the first part, consisting of the first five episodes of this fourth season, was released on February 9, now the second part with the five other episodes was released as well. Penn Badgley is back as Joe who moved to Europe, trying to find Marienne played by Tati Gabrielle. Like in the first part he is masquerading as university professor Jonathan Moore. After the murder of several people, he gets to know who is after him. Now in the second part Joe will try to get back to that person. But is everything as it seems? I watched this second part already and I was shocked when I got to know what really happened. There are some crazy twists. Also starring in this fourth season are Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper, Amy-Leigh Hickman, Ed Speleers and Lukas Gage. This second part of season 4 of You was released on March 9.

• 65: a new science fiction action thriller film written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. It stars Adam Driver and Ariana Greenblatt and follows a pilot who crashes on an unknown planet, which actually turns out to be Earth during the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago. He must endure the dangerous prehistoric environment, including dinosaurs, in order to survive. 65 was released in theatres on March 10.

• Luther: The Fallen Sun: the crime thriller film directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross. It serves as a film continuation of the 2010–19 British television series of the same name. The film stars Idris Elba, who also serves as a producer on the film, reprising his role as John Luther, with Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis also starring. Luther: The Fallen Sun was released in select cinemas on February 24, before it was released on Netflix on March 10.

• School Spirits: a new supernatural drama series. We follow Maddie played by Peyton List, a high-schooler who is stuck in the afterlife and decides to investigate her mysterious disappearance alongside a group of other students who are also stuck at their high school. The series was released on Paramount+ on March 9.

• Unseen: a new horror thriller film directed by Yoko Okumura in her directorial debut and written by Salvatore Cardoni and Brian Rawlins. The film stars Midori Francis, Jolene Purdy and Missi Pyle. It follows gas station clerk Sam who receives a call from Emily, a nearly blind woman who is running from her murderous ex in the woods. Emily must survive the ordeal with Sam being her eyes from afar using a video call. The film was released on March 7 by MGM+ and Paramount Home Entertainment and will stream on MGM+ on May 19.

• Creed III: the third film in the Creed film series and the ninth overall in the Rocky film series. It’s a sequel to Creed II and directed by Michael B. Jordan in his directorial debut. He also stars in the movie reprising his role as Creed. Also starring in this sports drama film are Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad. This film is the first one in the series in which Sylverster Stallone is not reprising his role as Rocky Balboa, though he is credited as a producer alongside Ryan Coogler, who contributed to the film's story. In the film, thriving boxer Adonis Creed faces off against childhood friend and former boxing prodigy Damian Anderson who got out of jail after something that happened in the past. Creed III was released in theatres on March 3.

• Daisy Jones & The Six: a new musical drama miniseries developed by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and based on the book of the same name written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. While the story is presented in a documentary style, including background interviews with the band, this is a fictional story that captures the essence of creativity in the erratic, wild world of the 1970s. It follows a rock band in the 1970s from their rise in the LA music scene to becoming one of the most legendary bands in the world and explores the reason behind their split at the height of their success. Starring in the series are Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 3 with the three first episodes that were released at once and the rest of the episodes are releasing weekly.

• The Mandalorian season 3: the third season of the Star Wars space Western series created by Jon Favreau. This was the first live-action series in the Star Wars franchise when the first season was released in 2019. The series is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983), and stars Pedro Pascal as the title character, a lone bounty hunter who goes on the run to protect the Force-sensitive child Grogu. Starting in the third season, Katee Sackhoff also stars as Mandalorian leader Bo-Katan Kryze. This third season of The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ on March 1 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre: a new spy action comedy film directed by Guy Ritchie, who also wrote it with Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies. The film stars Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone and Hugh Grant. The film is about a spy, Orson Fortune, who must retrieve a stolen high-tech device before an arms dealer can sell it to the highest bidder. The film was already released in theatres in several countries on January 4 and theatrically released in the United States on March 3. It is also releasing digitally on Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom on April 7.

• Perry Mason season 2: the second season of the period drama series created by Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald. It is based on the character of the same name by Erle Stanley Gardner. We had to wait a while for this second season of the series, but now it’s finally here. The series stars Matthew Rhys in the title role as Perry Mason, a famed defense lawyer. Also starring are Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Justin Kirk, Diarra Kilpatrick, Eric Lange, and Katherine Waterston. In this second season Perry Mason has to solve a new case about the murder of the scion of a powerful oil family. Season 2 of Perry Mason premiered on HBO on March 6 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• Sex/Life season 2: the second season of the drama series created by Stacy Rukeyser and inspired by the novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton. It stars Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, Cleo Anthony, and Darius Homayoun. We follow Billie Connelly, a former Columbia University psychology PhD candidate, mother of two, and housewife who is living in an affluent suburban Connecticut community. She’s suffering from a severe midlife crisis, yearning for the fast-paced life she had with her ex-boyfriend Brad. She ends up with the happily ever after life that every woman dreams of but questions if that is really what happiness means. Season 2 of Sex/Life  was released on Netflix on March 2.

• Cocaine Bear: a new comedy horror film directed and produced by Elizabeth Banks and written by Jimmy Warden. It’s loosely inspired by the true story of the ‘Cocaine Bear’, an American black bear that ingested millions of dollars of lost cocaine in 1985. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Keri Russell, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Christian Convery, Alden Ehrenreich, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Margo Martindale, and Ray Liotta. The film marked the posthumous release for Ray Liotta who died on May 26 of last year, with the film being dedicated to his memory. It’s a crazy movie based on a true story that is even crazier. Cocaine Bear was released in theatres on February 24.

• We Have A Ghost: a new supernatural horror comedy film written and directed by Christopher Landon, based on the 2017 short story ‘Ernest’ by Geoff Manaugh. It stars David Harbour, Jahi Winston, Tig Notaro, Jennifer Coolidge and Anthony Mackie. It follows the family Presley who moves into a new house that has a ghost, named Ernest. After discovering that their new home is haunted by Ernest, the dad creates a YouTube channel and makes the ghost and his family Internet famous. However, when the son Kevin and Ernest start to uncover the truth about Ernest's past, they become a target of the CIA. The film was released on Netflix on February 24.

• The Strays: a new horror movie written and directed by Nathaniel Martello-White making this his directorial debut. It stars Ashley Madekwe in the lead role and follows Neve, who leads a peaceful life in a suburb with her family and has a successful job at a private school. When she finds a strange man and woman appear strangely at odd moments, she starts to doubt her sanity. She turns to her family and friends for assistance, but they refuse to believe her. Also starring in the film are Bukky Bakray, Jorden Myrie, Justin Salinger, Samuel Small and Maria Almeida. The Strays was released on Netflix on February 22.

• Outer Banks season 3: the third season of the action-adventure mystery teen drama series created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. The series is set in a community in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and follows conflict between two groups of teenagers in the community, who have the nicknames "Kooks" and "Pogues". Most of the cast is coming back for this third season including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Charles Esten and Drew Starkey. Season 3 of Outer Banks was released on Netflix February 23.

• The Consultant: a new black comedy thriller series created by Tony Basgallop, based on the novel of the same name by Bentley Little. It stars Christoph Waltz as the titular character, with Nat Wolff, Brittany O'Grady, and Aimee Carrero in supporting roles. The series follows the employees of a mobile gaming company whose leadership is taken over by a sinister consultant, named Regus Patoff. The Consultant premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 24.

• The Weeknd Live at SoFi Stadium: I’m ending this Six To See with this concert special from The Weeknd. I’m a big fan of his and even saw him live when he came to Belgium a few years ago. This concert special is filmed at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles where The Weeknd gave an amazing performance. It offers a front-row seat to his thrilling 95-minute setlist which includes hits such as Starboy, Blinding Lights, Can't Feel My Face, I Feel It Coming, and so much more. This epic concert special of The Weeknd was released on HBO Max in the US on February 25 and the next day on February 26 on Streamz in Belgium.

• Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania: the new MCU superhero film based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope Pym / Wasp. It’s the sequel to Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp and the 31st film of the MCU and the first film in Phase Five of the MCU. The film was directed by Peyton Reed, written by Jeff Loveness, and stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, alongside Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, David Dastmalchian, Katy O'Brian, William Jackson Harper, Bill Murray, Michelle Pfeiffer, Corey Stoll, and Michael Douglas. In the film, Scott and his daughter Cassie and Hope and her parents are transported to the Quantum Realm where they face Kang the Conqueror. They will have to find a way back home, but because of Kang this won’t be that easy. I went to see the movie myself this week in theatres and really loved it. The critics are a little mixed and even a little harsh for the film in my opinion. It could have been better, exploring the Quantum Realm more, but the story and the acting are good. Jonathan Mayors as Kang and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet are very good, and I also like Kathryn Newton as Cassie. As a Marvel fan, it’s really worth going to go see it in theatres. And just like every MCU film there are two post-credit scenes you don’t want to miss. The film was released in theatres February 17.

• Sharper: a new psychological thriller film directed by Benjamin Caron and written by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. The film stars Julianne Moore, who also served as producer, and Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, Briana Middleton, and John Lithgow. It follows a young man who exacts revenge on his family for not accepting him and cons other rich people to gain the wealth he desires. Sharper was released in select cinemas on February 10 before it was released on Apple TV+ on February 17.

• Emily: a new biographical drama film written and directed by Frances O'Connor in her directorial debut. It is a part-fictional portrait of English writer Emily Brontë (played by Emma Mackey), concentrating on a fictional romantic relationship with the young curate William Weightman. Fionn Whitehead, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Alexandra Dowling, Amelia Gething, Adrian Dunbar and Gemma Jones also star in the film. Emily premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival before being theatrically released in the United Kingdom on October 14, and in the United States on February 17.

• Carnival Row season 2: the second season of the neo-noir fantasy series created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham, based on Beacham's unproduced film spec script, A Killing on Carnival Row. The series stars Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Indira Varma, and Jared Harris. The series follows mythological beings who must survive as oppressed refugees in human society, as a human detective works to solve murders connected with them. In this second season we follow Philo and Vignette who will have to survive a war between the mythological beings and humans. This second season of Carnival Row premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 17 with the first two episodes released now and the other episodes releasing weekly.

• Marlowe: a new neo-noir crime thriller film directed by Neil Jordan and written by William Monahan. It is based on the 2014 novel The Black-Eyed Blonde by John Banville, writing under the pen name Benjamin Black. It stars Liam Neeson as brooding private detective Philip Marlowe, a fictional character created by Raymond Chandler. The film also stars Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Alan Cumming, Francois Arnaud, Ian Hart, Danny Huston, Daniela Melchior, and Colm Meaney. It premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival last year and was released in theatres on February 15.

• Star Trek: Picard season 3: the third season of the series created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman. It’s the eighth Star Trek series and debuted in 2020 as part of Kurtzman's expanded Star Trek Universe. The series features the retired Starfleet admiral Jean-Luc Picard, beginning 20 years after his last appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). Each season explores different aspects of the character in his old age. Patrick Stewart stars as Picard, reprising his role from the series Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as other Star Trek media. Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Harry Treadaway, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, and Evan Evagora also star in the first season, with Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner joining for the second. The third season also stars Patrick Stewart, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Ed Speleers, and returning Next Generation cast members LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner. Season 3 of the series premiered on Paramount+ on February 16 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• You season 4 Part 1: the first part consisting of the first five episodes of this fourth season of the series is here. • Magic Mike's Last Dance: the sequel to Magic Mike XXL and the last film of the trilogy.  It’s directed by Steven Soderbergh, written by Reid Carolin, and produced by Channing Tatum who is reprising his role for the film as Mike Lane. He is a retired male stripper, who leaves Florida for London to help a socialite, Maxandra Mendoza played by Salma Hayek Pinault, produce a stage play. The film was released in theatres February 10.

• Your Place or Mine: a new rom-com film written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna in her directorial debut. The film stars Reese Witherspoon, who also produced, and Ashton Kutcher as best friends who decide to swap houses for a week. Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Wesley Kimmel, Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn also star. The film was released on Netflix on February 10.

• Somebody I Used to Know: a new rom com film co-written and directed by Dave Franco. The film stars Alison Brie, Jay Ellis and Kiersey Clemons. We follow Ally, who takes a break from her job and goes back to her mother's home revisiting old memories and seeing old friends. When she comes together with her ex Sean, she starts to question everything about the person she's become. Things only get more confusing when she discovers Sean is getting married to Cassidy whose confidence and creative convictions remind Ally of who she used to be. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10.

• The Flash season 9: the ninth and last season of the DC superhero series which is based on the DC Comics character Barry Allen / Flash. It is set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe, and is a spin-off of Arrow. It will also act as the conclusion of the Arrowverse.  Grant Gustin stars as Barry Allen / Flash, with principal cast members Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, and Brandon McKnight also returning from previous seasons. Some other characters who have seen in the series are also guest starring in this season including Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder / Batwoman and Red Death, Nicole Maines as Nia Nal / Dreamer, David Ramsey as John Diggle / Spartan, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West / Kid Flash, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen / XS, and Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow. Season 9 of The Flash premiered on the CW on February 8 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• The Chapel: the new psychological drama thriller film directed by Dominique Deruddere. Taeke Nicolaï stars in the lead role alongside Abigail Abraham, Zachary Shadrin, Ruth Becquart, and Kevin Janssens. The film is about the twenty-three-year-old virtuoso pianist Jennifer Rogiers who has lived most of her life with a terrible secret. When she is given the chance to compete in the final of the world-famous Queen Elisabeth Competition, the memory of a traumatic childhood experience resurfaces: the finalists are isolated in the Music Chapel for a week without any contact with the outside world. It was the opening film of Filmfestival Oostende and was released in theatres February 8.

• Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine's Day Special: Valentine’s Day is coming and because of that HBO Max released a Valentine’s Day special of Harley Quinn. We follow Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy as they celebrate Valentine’s Day as well as all the other characters from the series including Clayface, Banes and Riddler. It’s so raunchy, funny, violent, there is literally nothing else that can be compared to it right now. It’s just amazing. This Valentine’s Day special of Harley Quinn was released on HBO Max on February 9.

• Knock At The Cabin: an apocalyptic psychological horror film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who wrote the screenplay from an initial draft by Steve Desmond and Michael Sherman. It is based on the 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay, the first adaptation of one of his works. The film stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn and Rupert Grint. In the film, a family of three are vacationing at a remote cabin, but they are suddenly held hostage by four strangers, who demand they sacrifice one of their own to avert the apocalypse. The film was released in theatres on February 3.

• True Spirit: a new drama movie based on a true story following Australian teenager Jessica Watson, played by Teagan Croft, who sailed all over the world on her own being the youngest person doing so. We follow her as she travels and tries to make her dream come true. The movie also stars Cliff Curtis, Josh Lawson and Anna Paquin. True Spirit was released on Netflix on February 3.

• Dear Edward: a new drama series developed by Jason Katims and based on the novel of the same name by Ann Napolitano. It stars Colin O'Brien as Edward Adler, the lone survivor of a plane crash that takes the lives of his family. He and others affected by the tragedy connect with one another to cope with their respective losses and pain. Also starring in the series are Connie Britton, Taylor Schilling and Amy Forsyth. It premiered on Apple TV+ on February 3.

• 80 for Brady: a new sports comedy film directed by Kyle Marvin, written by Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern, and produced by former NFL quarterback Tom Brady. The film follows four lifelong friends played by Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field who travel to watch Tom Brady play in Super Bowl LI in 2017. 80 for Brady was released in theatres on February 3.

• Freeridge: a new teen comedy drama series which is a spin-off of On My Block. It’s created by Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, Jamie Dooner, and Jamie Uyeshiro and stars Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Bryana Salaz, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Ciara Riley Wilson, and Peggy Blow. It follows a group of four teen friends who work to reverse a curse after a peculiar old box seems to bring misfortune, and more, into their lives. Freeridge was released on Netflix on February 2.

• Pamela, a love story: the new documentary about Pamela Anderson. It’s an intimate and humanizing portrait of the Canadian actress including personal video’s and never-before-seen images. The documentary was released on Netflix January 31.

• Lockwood and Co: a new detective thriller series written and directed by Joe Cornish and based on Jonathan Stroud's book series of the same name. It follows the plot of the first two books, The Screaming Staircase and The Whispering Skull. The series follows the adventures of a team of psychic investigators, two teenage boys and a psychically gifted girl, as they uncover the truth behind ghostly occurrences in an alternate version of London. The series stars Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, Ivanno Jeremiah, Luke Treadaway, Morven Christie, Jemma Moore, Jack Bandeira, Ben Crompton, Hayley Konadu, Rhianna Dorris, Paddy Holland and Rico Vina. The series consists of eight episodes and was released on Netflix on January 27.

• Infinity Pool: a new science fiction horror film written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg. It is an international co-production starring Alexander Skarsgård, Mia Goth, and Cleopatra Coleman. It follows novelist James Foster and his wife Em who are staying at an isolated island resort, enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi, they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you'll be executed or, if you're rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead. Infinity Pool premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 22 and was released in theatres on January 27.

• Shotgun Wedding: a new romantic action comedy film directed by Jason Moore and written by Mark Hammer. The film stars Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel in the lead roles as Darcy and Tom who plan their destination wedding in the Caribbean. However, things take a turn for the worse when their families arrive and the wedding party is taken hostage by a group of criminals. Darcy and Tom must put aside their differences and work together to save their loved ones and themselves. The movie also stars Sônia Braga, Jennifer Coolidge, Lenny Kravitz, and Cheech Marin. Shotgun Wedding was released on Amazon Prime Video on January 27.

• Poker Face: the new murder mystery series created by Rian Johnson and starring Natasha Lyonne in the lead role as Charlie Cale, a casino worker with an innate ability to detect lies. She is traveling across America on the run from the casino boss following a suspicious death. Along the way, she encounters colorful characters and solves homicides in a variety of settings. Also starring in the series are Benjamin Bratt and Ron Perlman, with also a lot of guest stars including Adrien Brody, Chloë Sevigny, Dascha Polanco, Megan Suri, Lil Rel Howery, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Clea DuVall, Rowan Blanchard, and Noah Segan. The series premiered on Peacock on January 26 with the first four episodes, the rest being released weekly.

• You People: a new buddy comedy movie directed by Kenya Barris, which he co-wrote with Jonah Hill. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lauren London, Sam Jay, Molly Gordon, Mike Epps, Nia Long, Deon Cole, Rhea Perlman, and David Duchovny. It follows Ezra Cohen who falls in love with Amira. This new couple and their families find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences. The movie was released on Netflix on January 27.

• Shrinking: a new comedy series created by Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel. It follows therapist Jimmy Laird who is dealing with severe grief. He begins to breach ethical barriers by telling his patients what he completely thinks, resulting in massive changes to his and their lives. The series stars Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Christa Miller. The series premiered on Apple TV+ on January 27 with the first two episodes, the rest being released weekly.

• Bonus: Teen Wolf: The Movie: Teen Wolf is back, but this time as a movie instead of a series. This supernatural thriller teen drama film is directed by Russell Mulcahy and written by Jeff Davis and is a continuation of the MTV series Teen Wolf. Most of the cast is reprising their roles from the series including Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Shelley Hennig, Dylan Sprayberry, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, and JR Bourne. It follows werewolf Scott McCall as he protects his California town from a new threat. The film was released on Paramount+ on January 26.

• Missing: a new computer screen mystery thriller film written and directed by Nick Johnson and Will Merrick in their directorial debuts, from a story by Sev Ohanian and Aneesh Chaganty. It is a standalone sequel to the 2018 film Searching. The film stars Storm Reid, Joaquim de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, Daniel Henney, Amy Landecker, Tim Griffin, Michael Segovia, Megan Suri, and Nia Long. It follows June Allen, a teenager who tries to find her missing mother after she disappears on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology at her fingertips to try and find her before it's too late. But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers and when June unravels secrets about her mom, she discovers that she never really knew her at all. Missing had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 19, and was released in theatres on January 20.

• When You Finish Saving the World: a new coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg in his feature directorial debut. The film is based on Jesse Eisenberg's 2020 audio drama of the same name. Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard star as a mother and son who navigate their contentious relationship. We follow Ziggy and his mother Evelyn. He is a high school student who performs original folk-rock songs for an adoring online fan base. This concept mystifies his formal and uptight mother, Evelyn, who runs a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse. Also starring in the film are Alisha Boe, Jay O. Sanders, and Eleonore Hendricks. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2022 and was released in theatres a year later on January 20 of this year.

• That 90’s Show: the new period teen sitcom set during the summer of 1995, featuring characters and locales that debuted in its predecessor, That '70s Show. The show centers on Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, forming bonds with other teenagers as she spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty in Point Place, Wisconsin, 15 years after the events of That '70s Show. Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith are reprising their roles in the sitcom as Kitty Forman, Leia's paternal grandmother and as Red Forman, Leia's paternal grandfather. Callie Haverda stars as Leia Forman who is the daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, played by Topher Grace and Laura Prepon in the original series. Also starring are Ashley Aufderheide, Sam Morelos, Reyn Doi, Maxwell Acee Donovan, and Mace Coronel as Jay Kelso, Leia's love interest and the son of Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis). Several actors who starred in the original show, are making a guest appearance in the new show including Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama. The sitcom premiered on Netflix on January 19.

• The Son: a new drama film directed by Florian Zeller from a screenplay written by himself and Christopher Hampton. It is based on Zeller's 2018 stage play of the same name and serves as a prequel to 2020's The Father. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby, Zen McGrath, Hugh Quarshie, and Anthony Hopkins. The film follows the Miller family. A couple of years after his parents’ divorce, 17-year-old Nicholas no longer feels he can stay with his mother, Kate. He moves in with his father Peter and Peter’s new partner Beth. Juggling work, his and Beth’s new baby, and the offer of his dream job in Washington, Peter tries to care for Nicholas as he wishes his own father had cared for him. But by reaching for the past to correct its mistakes, he loses sight of how to hold onto the Nicholas in the present. At the Golden Globe Awards of this year, Hugh Jackman was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance. The Son had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival last year, and was released for a limited one-week theatrical run in New York City and Los Angeles on 25 November 2022, before a wide release in theatres on 20 January of this year.

• Jung_E: a new South Korean science fiction film written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, starring Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo. The film features the final film appearance of Kang Soo-yeon who died ahead of its release. Set in the year 2194, Jung_E portrays a desolated Earth in the 22nd century that is no longer habitable due to climate change where humans are forced to live in a man-made shelter built for survival. Amid the chaos, an internal war breaks out in the shelter. Victory – meaning the end of the war – now hinges on finding a way to clone the legendary mercenary Jung_E into a scalable robot. The film premiered on Netflix on January 20.

• The Legend of Vox Machina season 2: the second season of the adult animated fantasy television series based on campaign one of the Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role. The series stars Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Liam O'Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham reprising their roles from Critical Role's first campaign. The series is set in Exandria, a fictional world created by Matthew Mercer in 2012 for his personal Dungeons & Dragons campaign which then launched as the actual play web series Critical Role in 2015. Most of the story takes place on the continent of Tal'Dorei in locations such as the metropolis of Emon and the city-state of Whiteston. The second season of the series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 20 with three episodes releasing weekly. A third season is coming as well.

• The Last of Us: the new post-apocalyptic drama series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Based on the 2013 video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, the series follows Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey,across a post-apocalyptic United States. It also features Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, and Anna Torv as Joel's smuggler partner Tess. Also guest starring in the series are Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Storm Reid, Scott Shepherd, and Troy Baker. Jeffrey Pierce and Ashley Johnson who portrayed Tommy and Ellie in the video games also star in the series. Just like in the video game, we will follow Joel and Ellie’s journey through an apocalyptic world full of monsters and zombies. I’m a very big fan of the video games, they are one of my favorites, so I really look forward to seeing the series. The Last of Us is premiering on HBO this Sunday night on January 15 with a new episode releasing weekly and in Belgium a new episode is releasing the day after on Streamz.

• Velma: the new adult animated mystery comedy series based on the character Velma Dinkley from the Scooby-Doo franchise. Developed by Charlie Grandy, it stars executive producer Mindy Kaling as the voice of the titular character, Velma, with Sam Richardson, Constance Wu and Glenn Howerton in supporting roles. The series revolves around Velma Dinkley and the other human members of Mystery Inc. before their official formation. Velma premiered on January 12 on HBO Max, consisting of ten episodes released in pairs, so the first two episodes were released this week and every week two new ones are being released.

• Plane: a new action-thriller film directed by Jean-François Richet, written by Charles Cumming and J. P. Davis, and starring Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Yoson An, and Tony Goldwyn. It centers around commercial pilot Brodie Torrance who makes a successful emergency landing after his plane sustains critical damage from a storm. He soon realizes that the island he landed on is Jolo, a remote area of the Philippines ruled by heavily armed anti-government militias. A local militia leader finds the passengers and takes them hostage, intending to secure large ransoms from their families. With international rescue experts struggling to find their location and running out of time, Brodie is left with no choice but to free a convicted murderer he was tasked with transporting and team up with him to save the passengers and find a way off the island. Plane was released in theatres January 13.

• Vikings: Valhalla season 2: the second season of the historical drama series created by Jeb Stuart. It is a sequel to History's Vikings, filmed in County Wicklow, Ireland. Set one hundred years after the events of Vikings, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of the Viking Age, marked by the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. This second season of the series was released on Netflix on January 12. A third season is also coming.

• Hunters season 2: the second season of the conspiracy drama series created by David Weil. It stars Logan Lerman, Al Pacino, Lena Olin, Jerrika Hinton, Carol Kane, Josh Radnor, Greg Austin, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. It follows a diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City who discover that numerous escaped Nazi officers are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States. A parallel plot element is the discovery of Operation Paperclip, the U.S. government operation relocating German scientists (many of them Nazis) to the U.S. This second and final season of Hunters premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 13.

• Servant season 4: the fourth season of the psychological horror series created by Tony Basgallop and executive produced alongside M. Night Shyamalan, who serves as showrunner. This is also the last season of the series. It follows Sean and Dorothy Turner, a Philadelphia couple who hire Leanne Grayson to be the nanny for their infant son Jericho, a reborn doll. Leanne's arrival brings about strange and frightening occurrences for the couple. The series stars Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free and Rupert Grint as the four central characters. The fourth and final season of the series premiered on Apple TV+ on January 13 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• Kaleidoscope: a new heist series that was released on Netflix on New Year’s Day, January 1st. It’s a special series because you can watch it in any order you want. Every episode has a color as title, you jus have to start with the black episode and end with the white episode. All the other episodes you can choose in which order you want to see. Everyone also gets another order in their profile, so everyone can have a different one. Every episode is happening an amount of time before, during or after the heist. The series is created by Eric Garcia and stars Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Paz Vega, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, Tati Gabrielle, and Peter Mark Kendall. We follow master thief Leo Pap and his crew who are attempting an epic heist worth $7 billion, but betrayal, greed and other threats undermine their plans. It’s a fun series to see in any order you want.

• Ginny & Georgia season 2: the second season of the comedy drama series created by Sarah Lampert. This second season was released on Netflix on January 5. Just like in the first season we follow Ginny Miller and her mother Georgia who started a new life in a New England town together with her brother Austin and her friends she made. Reprising their roles in the series are Antonia Gentry, Brianne Howey, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Katie Douglas, and Chelsea Clark. We had to wait almost two years for this second season, but now it’s finally here. And it starts where everything ended in the first season with Ginny and Austin on their way to find their dad. But things won’t be like they think it will and some drama stuff will happen just like in the first season.

• M3GAN: one of the first big movies released in 2023. This science fiction horror film directed by Gerard Johnstone follows the eponymous artificially intelligent doll named Megan who develops self-awareness and becomes hostile to anyone who comes between her and her human companion, Cady. Cady’s aunt Gemma, who is a roboticist, made that robot or doll which is designed to be a loyal companion to the child, but things start to get weird and creepy. The film stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, with Amie Donald physically portraying M3GAN and Jenna Davis voicing the character. M3GAN was released in theatres on January 6 and is already doing great in the box office.

• The Pale Blue Eye: a new mystery thriller film written and directed by Scott Cooper, adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name by Louis Bayard. It tells the story of veteran detective Augustus Landor who, in 1830 West Point, New York, investigates a series of murders at the United States Military Academy with the aid of Edgar Allan Poe, a young military cadet. It features an ensemble cast including Christian Bale and Harry Melling as Landor and Poe, alongside Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Timothy Spall and Robert Duvall. The film was released in select cinemas on December 23 before streaming on Netflix on January 6.

• Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Season 2: the second season of the animated series created by Dave Filoni which is part of the Star Wars franchise. It’s acting as both a sequel to and spin-off from the series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dee Bradley Baker voices the members of the Bad Batch, a squad of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations. He also voices other clones in the series, reprising his role from The Clone Wars. Michelle Ang stars as Omega, a female clone who joins the squad. This second season which consists of 16 episodes premiered on Disney+ on January 4 with a new episode releasing weekly.

• The Rig: a new supernatural thriller series created by David Macpherson. It’s directed by John Strickland, and is the first Amazon Original to be filmed entirely in Scotland. It stars Emily Hampshire, Iain Glen, Martin Compston, Mark Bonnar, Rochenda Sandall, Owen Teale, Richard Pepple, Calvin Demba, Emun Elliott, Abraham Popoola, Stuart McQuarrie, Molly Vevers, Dougie Rankin, Nikesh Patel and Mark Addy. When the crew of the North Sea stationed Kinloch Bravo oil rig is due to return to the mainland, a mysterious fog rolls in and cuts off communication with the outside world. We follow this crew who will be driven to the limits of their endurance and loyalties and will be forced into a confrontation with forces that are beyond their imagination. The series was released on Amazon Prime Video on January 6 and consists of six episodes.
